When keeping it real goes wrong: Pacman Jones


You know what, Pacman? It’s ok to not keep it real if you got millions and lifelong security at stake. Either that or you can be the fastest guy on the Wal-Mart flag football team.

On Monday, we told you about the latest incident with strippers and guns. Well, more details are coming out and it just seems like Pacman Jones is an idiot who cares more about his thug image than he does getting back in the league.


According to the police report, Jones became angry after another patron at Club Blaze asked an entertainer for a dance and told the man, “I’ll kill all y’all in here.”

An off-duty cop working as a security guard at the club also told police he overheard Jones say, “I’m going to get my gun” as the Titans’ star left the club.

Pacman is like a bad imitation of the guy in White Men Can’t Jump who threatened to get his gun and kill everyone after Wesley and Woody snookered him. He absolutely just doesn’t care whether he’s back in the league or not. Can Goodell ban him from the NFL while on his suspension for this season?

Think about this for a second: Chris Henry got the same memo and Pacman Jones and he hasn’t been in trouble yet. How sad is it when Chris Henry is smarter than you?

Pacman Jones needs some new friends


So much for that full page ad that Pacman took out apologizing to the NFL, the Titans and the fans. Not even an entire summer has gone by and Pacman already is involved in another shooting.

Police are looking for him after a shooting following a fight involving his entourage at an Atlanta strip club at 4 a.m. Monday morning. Police say that Jones and crew got into a fight over a woman with three other people. After everyone left, a member of the entourage shot at the car with the three people who were involved in the fight.

Jones wasn’t present at the time of the shooting and police only want to question him as a witness in the incident (isn’t that how the Vegas incident started out?) but clearly this is an indication that Pacman hasn’t learned a damn thing about being more responsible and making the right decisions. Being at a strip club till 4 a.m. on a Sunday night is clearly the wrong decision. The good news for Pacman is that there are plenty of strip clubs in Canada when he has to play for the CFL.

Pacman takes out ad to apologize for slamming a stripper’s head into the stage, and the drugs, and..


We’re not sure exactly what NFL Commissioner Roger Goddell said to Pacman Jones, other than “see ya next year,” but whatever it was, it is having a serious effect on the Pacman. First Jones came out and conducted a fairly honest interview with Primetime, then he announced that he’s going back to school during his suspension and now he’s taking out full page ads to publicly apologize. Damn, we use to think Pacman was so hard.

In the April 20 edition of The Tennessean of Nashville, Jones said that his life is all jacked up and then told his family and friends that he’ll do whatever it takes to regain their trust.

In the past few weeks, I have learned a lifetime of lessons. First and foremost, I need to reorganize my priorities. As a grown man and a new father, my first priority is my daughter and family. Second, I have to not only meet the expectations of my coaches, teammates and fans, but exceed them in every respect, on and off the field. The first step in meeting these goals is for me to stop making the poor choices that have put me in this position.

So, does this mean there will be no more strip clubs? No more shootings? No more drugs? No more car chases? And most importantly no more biting police officers?

Hopefully for Pacman he’s getting his life on track, but we’re pretty bummed that the one man police blotter won’t be entertaining us weekly with his circus side show act. But we still have Chris Henry and Tank Johnson to keep things interesting during the off season, and while they are no Pacman, that’s not too shabby at all.

Hey Goodell, we’re still waiting on the personal conduct policy

For all the talk about about Roger Goodell instituting a league personal conduct policy during the owners meetings, it looks like it won’t get done till sometime before the NFL draft in late April. Since sources say that the sanctions might be applied retroactively (which doesn’t make sense at all to us but the NFL has more power than God), it’s liable to affect players who are still getting into trouble now because they don’t know any better, or at least that’s what their agents will say on appeal.

First up is our old friend Chris Henry. The latest incident for Henry is being cited for three traffic chargers: driving with a suspended license, failure to wear a seatbelt, and making an improper turn. All very minor stuff but you can’t get into any trouble if you’ve already been arrested 4 times in the last 14 months.

Second up is Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall who was arrested for false imprisonment and domestic violence charges after an argument with his girlfriend at their Colorado home. This seems to be one of those trumped up charges since his girlfriend had no injuries and the “false imprisonment” charge was Marshall blocking her taxi with his car to prevent her from leaving. In a romantic comedy, that’s the denouement, in real life, it’s a crime.

In any case, Pacman Jones is scheduled to meet with Roger Goodell on April 3rd. Here’s how the meeting will go:


Goodell: Hello Adam, please tell me about all the times you’ve been arrested or questioned by the police since you came into the league.
Jones: Well, there was the assault charge… and the weapons charge… and there was the public intoxication… and then there was the marijuana charge… then there was the spitting incident with the Tennessee State ho… and then of course the NBA All-Star Game…

Goodell (to secretary): Got all that? Good. Clean that up and put everything he did in the “examples of violating the conduct policy” section. We’re done.

Pacman Jones might be going back to Vegas

Unfortunately, it’s not to gamble and hit the strip clubs. The Las Vegas police, which already has been accused of incompetence, is seeking felony and misdemeanor chargers against Pacman Jones for the triple shooting at a strip club during NBA All-Star Weekend.

Police still don’t know who did the shooting outside the club but want to charge Jones and two friends for the melee that broke out inside the club. You know, the one one where Pacman slammed a stripper’s head against the stage.

Pacman has got more problems though. The major issue during the NFL owners meeting in Arizona this week is the player conduct policy and Jones’s name comes up in every mention of how to discipline players who run afoul of the law or are consistently getting themselves into trouble otherwise.

The Titans are considering dumping Pacman Jones entirely to be rid of the headache and have released this statement:


The club is deeply disturbed that the alleged conduct of one of its players has resulted in felony charges in one state and accusations of felony conduct in another state.

Since the NFL is preparing to introduce a new player conduct policy and since criminal charges and investigations are in progress, comment or speculation would be inappropriate. The club is currently reviewing its options with respect to the player

One of Pacman’s attorneys said that Pacman is very concerned about a possible suspension by the NFL. Maybe he should have though of that sometime between the 9th and 10th time that he was questioned or arrested by police.

Pacman’s hideout gets cleaned out


It shouldn’t be a shocker that Pacman Jones is once again involved with the law, but what should be surprising is that the law is actually on his side in this one.

Pacman’s Tennessee crib was robbed back around the beginning of the year and the sneaky bastard got away with over $209,000 worth of loot. That’s a pretty decent night’s work. Turns out that the thief and Jones share a lot of the same interests; apparently they both like expensive televisions, video games, cash, jewelry, computers, recording equipment and surveillance equipment (that could have come in handy). Some of the more gaudy items taken were an $80,000 watch, a necklace and chain worth $75,000 and $25,000 in dollar, dollar bills, ya’ll.

We have nothing to go on in this incident,” detective Jonathan Couey said. “We feel like there is the possibility that it could be someone who was acquainted with Mr. Jones, because they were able to get into the gate, which has a code, and they knew how to get into his house. If anyone has any information, we need them to contact us.

Things just keep going from bad to worse for Jones. But you know what they say, when it rains it pours.

Pacman Jones might have less money to make it rain



Take a bite out of crime!

It has been speculated for a couple of weeks now but Don Banks at Sports Illustrated is reporting that the NFL is going to set an example by suspending Pacman Jones, not for his role in the Las Vegas strip club triple shooting, but for failing to tell the Titans about two 2006 arrests in Georgia which violates the personal conduct clause in his contract.

According to a source in the league office:


We can’t tell the Titans that he won’t play for them ever again, because the Titans, at the end of the day, will determine his long-term future. But the league will determine his short-term future. You should see something within a two or three-week time frame, and I would think you could expect a multiple-game suspension, or as much as a year or beyond.

The suspension could come immediately after the owners meetings next week in Arizona. Pacman is unlikely to get any support from the Players Association as commissioner Roger Goodell has worked closely with NFLPA executive director Gene Upshaw on writing the new personal conduct guidelines and has the support of a lot of the veterans.

Pacman Jones almost gets Munsoned


Pacman Jones was involved in yet another off field incident over the weekend but in striking contrast to most of his encounters with the law, he didn’t get hauled away in handcuffs. In fact, it was Jones who was assaulted for once!

The confrontation happened inside of a Franklin, Tennessee bowling alley (Allen Iverson could have warned him about the perils of bowling alleys) when Clayton Smith whipped out his trusty red Swiss Army knife and “threatened to beat up Mr. Jones and to use the knife on him.” Nobody was hurt and Smith was arrested on charges of aggravated assault.

Just another day in the life of Mr. Jones who has been involved in at least ten separate incidents with police since being drafted; Jones’ attorneys, Worrick Robinson and Manny Arora, say Pacman has a tendency to be in the wrong place at the wrong time too often. “If he doesn’t commit to changing it, at some point it’s going to be too much,” Arora said. “It may already be there to some extent.” Really? Pacman at the wrong place at the wrong time? Next thing you’ll be telling us that there are lesbians in the WNBA!

Pacman Jones tells us what’s wrong with the NFL drug policy


Pacman Jones is scheduled to appear in court this month for an obstruction of justice charge stemming from a fight with a police officer during a traffic stop. Pacman Jones in trouble again… yawn. (As the report mentioned, Jones has been in at least 10 off-the-field incidents involving police since being drafted.) Wake us up when he has to appear in court for the triple shooting at the Las Vegas strip club.

The Tennessean also mentions a marijuana bust last month that has since been dismissed. According to Mike Pruitt of the Fayette County Drug Task Force:


Jones showed up in a sports car as officers arrived at the home, and Pruitt smelled marijuana in the car.

“I asked him why his (Corvette) smelled so bad, and he said, ‘We were smoking it on the way down here from Nashville’.

“I asked him, ‘Why do you want to throw your career away for a bunch of marijuana junk?’ He said, ‘I know when I am going to get drug-tested, so I quit doing it.’ It’s just crazy.”

So basically, in the NFL, you can smoke weed and take HGH as much as you want because you know when the drug tests are coming and you can just take a ton of goldenseal and HGH can’t be detected in urine. Oh well, as long as we get our weekly ‘Jacked Up!’ segment, no one is complaining. Remember kids, they just play ball, they’re not role models.
