Tip: Do not bust any caps near the White House

Former Charlotte Bobcat (and Maryland Terrapin) Lonny Baxter was arrested with another man around 2:30 in the morning. A witness flagged down a secret service agent to report shots fired and seeing a white SUV in the area. The officer then pulled over Lonny Baxter and saw spent shells in the vehicle. Baxter and his passenger were arrested and charged with carrying a pistol without a license and having an unregistered firearm and unregistered ammunition.

The press is playing this up like it’s some kind of threat against the White House. The shots were fired five blocks away from the White House. If Baxter had that good of an aim, he wouldn’t have been a career 4 ppg NBA player.

Attorney says police roughed up Clarett while he was in handcuffs

Maurice Clarett’s lawyer Michael Hoague is claiming that as Maurice Clarett was cooperative with police but they struck him and maced him while he was on the ground and already in cuffs. According to the police, the use of mace was necessary because Clarett was wearing a bulletproof vest and a taser gun didn’t work.

Hoague says that Clarett called his fiance and mother to tell them he loved them and to call his lawyer.

A person who calls his loved ones to say, ‘I’m about to go to jail,’ does not have the mind-set to put up a fight.

Hoague also claims that Clarett was simply moving his belongings from his mother’s house to a hotel. This is perfectly reasonable. Who hasn’t kept a rifle and 3 semiautomatic guns at their mother’s house? And the bottle of grey goose in the passenger seat? He just didn’t want that to break in the move.

Isn’t this the same lawyer who claimed that he was afraid for his client’s safety and worried he might injure himself? A person with a bunch of guns and a bulletproof vest isn’t just moving his stuff, he’s preparing for a war. We’re not saying that the police didn’t hit Clarett after he was arrested but you don’t get arrested in the first place if you don’t have a munitions depot in the passenger seat.

Another idiot Steeler riding a motorcycle without a helmet

Rocket scientist

Shouldn’t a team have one motorcycle incident per season? After Kellen Winslow tore up his knee in a parking lot stunt accident, you didn’t hear about any other member of the Browns with a motorcycle. But not the Steelers! Why just have one incident when you can have two. On early Sunday morning, tackle Barrett Brooks was arrested when he tried to flee from the police on his motorcycle. Bill Cowher should seriously consider banning motorcycles.

Brooks was charged with fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, driving at an unsafe speed and other traffic violations. He took the police on a 5 minute chase before dropping his bike in an intersection. According to the police, Brooks was not legally intoxicated (although they don’t mention whether he had a few drinks) and wasn’t wearing a helmet.

There’s so much we can say about Barrett Brooks and his level of intelligence. Instead, we just shake our heads and walk away. Is there a anti-Darwin Awards for people like this?

Dale Davis gets tasered in Miami Beach

Where am I?

How many times do we have to say it? Professional athletes need to stay away from Miami. We know there are scores of hot chicks everywhere wearing bikinis and… shit.. see you suckers later.

Hmm… it turns out sports bloggers can’t afford last minute flights to Miami. Anyway, Dale Davis was tasered for assault on a police officer, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest without violence on Tuesday. The police were called to a hotel by the staff and when they asked Davis to leave, he refused to do so. Then it got ugly.

Police said they asked Davis to remove his hands from his pockets for officer safety, and Davis complied after asking officers if they were going to shoot him.

Davis pulled out money, three cellular phones and credit cards. He put the items back in his pockets and said he’d beat up the officers if they took off their badges and got rid of their guns.

Davis then balled his fists and began walking toward officers in an aggressive manner, and he was warned that he would be hit with a Taser gun if he continued. He didn’t stop, and an officer used the stun gun to hit Davis in the chest and he fell to the ground.

His agent said that they plan on filing a lawsuit against the police. What retarded jury would find for the plaintiff in this case? He was walking towards the officers in an aggressive manner. Davis is lucky they didn’t just shoot him. Also, why does Dale Davis carry 3 cell phones? 1 for his wife, 1 for his mistress, and 1 disposable one for the hos he meets on South Beach? I guess we’ll say it again. Just stay away from Miami.

Another incident for Jailblazers East

You can add Matthias Askew to the growing list of Bengals players arrested this offseason. Askew was shopping for CDs in Cincinnati and decided to park his Escalade on the sidewalk. When the police asked him to move it, he ignored them until they threatened to give him a ticket, then he attempted to drive away but the police told him he couldn’t. Askew parked the vehicle and, according to the police, got out of the car and assumed a “fighting stance”. He was then arrested.

But that’s not all folks. When the police were putting the cuffs on him, Askew attempted to get away and that’s when he was tasered. Imagine a 300 pounder flopping around on the ground after getting tasered. Askew was taken into custody and released on a $248 bond. Now, it seems to us that although Askew was being a dick, the police should’ve just let him drive away, no harm no foul. Instead, we get another negative incident surrounding the Bengals. The over/under on Bengals wins this year is 9. Take the under.

Oh, and if you’ve ever wondered what being tasered looks like, check out this classic video of a woman spouting off and getting tasered.

The Luckiest Unlucky Cowboy

Perhaps God is just messing with Keith Davis, a Dallas Cowboys free safety. Early Sunday morning, Davis was shot in the head and the leg during a drive-by shooting but he’s in stable condition after surgery and is doing fine. Police think the shooting was an attempted carjacking because of Davis’ pimped out Chevy Impala.

This isn’t the first time he’s been shot. A couple of years ago, he was shot three times outside of a strip club. He was an innocent bystander but was released anyway because Bill Parcells has an anti-strip club policy. Talk about insult to injury.

In any case, I wouldn’t want to be going up against Keith Davis on the field. After being shot in the head and surviving, he must feel like he’s invinceable — there’s no question what he could do on the field. Hell, we’re predicting a Terrell Owens – Keith Davis lockerroom fight right now.

Oh and may we suggest that Davis start driving a minivan or a Plymouth Reliant. “Who’s gonna carjack your fuckin’ K-Car?”

Odds and Ends: Isaiah Rider arrested again

like clockwork

Hey hey, it’s the semi-annual Isaiah Rider arrest post. In January, Isaiah was arrest for kidnapping and battery. This time, it was for a much simpler felony posession of cocaine. It’s a hell of a drug.

Cincinnati Reds pitcher Brian Shackleford arrested

You know, the sports pages sometimes read like the police blotter and it seems to be happening more and more recently. The latest is Brian Shackleford who was arrested at Miller Park on suspicion of third-degree sexual assault for an incident that took place in a hotel room on July 3rd.

According to a radio station in Milwaukee, Shackleford met a woman through Match.com and she claimed that something improper happened at the hotel. On one hand, the sexual assault is really bad publicity for Match.com. On the other hand, Match.com is so popular that you can meet professional athletes on it!

Check out Brian Shackleford’s Match.com profile. “Im a baseball player looking to meet new people. I love to have a good time and can have fun with anyone. I like going out to eat, having a good time, having a coupel of drinks…” Except for the baseball player part, this could be any lame ass profile on match. How sad is it that a professional baseball player has to do online dating?

Before we jump to conclusions, let us remind you that allegations are not always the truth. Remember the woman who claimed she was raped by Erik Williams and Michael Irvin and then lated admitted she made it up? We’ll keep you updated on this story.

Santonio Holmes still trails Chris Henry by 2 arrests

Baby Momma drama

Santonio Holmes has been arrested again, this time for assaulting his baby momma. She called the police to report that the father of her child assaulted her and while the police were there to take her report, Holmes returned to the apartment and was arrested.

Ironically, before the NFL Draft, Holmes said he wanted to be a top pick so he could support his three children. That Santonio, always looking out for family. Well, either looking out for or lying to them. Holmes made the news in May for getting arrested on Memorial Day weekend for disorderly conduct in Miami when he told his mom he was still in Columbus Ohio.

Holmes is clearly losing the battle with Chris Henry, WR for the Bengals. Two arrests in two states? Please. Henry has been arrested four times in three states! The latest charge was providing alcohol to three underage girls a.k.a The Marcus Vick Special. His previous three arrests were for marijuana possession, concealed weapon charge, and DUI.

Come on Santonio! We realize you haven’t even hit training camp yet but Chris Henry is only a 2nd year player. You gotta be at least within 1 arrest of him. May we suggest going on a boat cruise with Fred Smoot?
