We’ve been known to sit on the couch for hours/days on end, stuffing our faces full of Doritos and washing them down with cases upon cases of Coors Light, but even our pathetic, flabby bodies could have pulled out a victory in this race.

Well folks, here’s an early entry into the 2007 Sports Father of the Year contest. While some fathers have tackled other kids or pulled out a gun at a pee-wee football game, this guy actually assaulted his own daughter after she failed to qualify for the 50-meter backstroke semifinals. Oh and he was also her coach.
Mikhail Zubkov was caught on camera battling with his daughter Kateryna Zubkova (video below) and he is now banned from any further contact with his daughter and has had his accreditation stripped for the FINA world championships in Melbourne. On top of that, the police are investigating the incident.

The August issue of FHM magazine has named Amanda Beard as the world’s sexiest athlete. With photos like those featured in the magazine, it’s hard to argue. And not only is she a pretty face, she also makes a ton of dough: “Amanda gets a cool $15,000 per speaking engagement. She has signed a $1 million contract to advertise Speedo’s Axcelerate line. Throw in endorsement deals with Oroweat Bread, Red Bull and Penta water, and a signature line of fragrance products, and Amanda can earn up to $100 million by 2010.” The rest of the article is your standard FHM/Maxim ‘oooh she’s hot and not boring’ fluff.

You know what the problem with kids is today? They’re making the rest of us look bad. In march, a 10-year-old kid bowled a perfect game in league play and now a 7-year-old boy has swam from Alcatraz to San Francisco in 47 minutes.
Braxton Bilbrey read about a 9-year-old who accomplished the feat and wanted to do it himself. His coach said he’s just an average kid but had “the determination and mental toughness to swim cold, dark, choppy water” and trained for 2 hours a day, 4 times a week. Meanwhile, this is what most of us were doing at age 7.
