Tim Hardaway hates gay people… no… seriously

You want me to drop an f bomb?

That’s right folks, Mr. Utep 2 Step hates gays. Say it loud and say it proud!

You know, I hate gay people, so I let it be known. I don’t like gay people and I don’t like to be around gay people. I am homophobic. I don’t like it. It shouldn’t be in the world or in the United States.

First of all, I wouldn’t want [Amaechi] on my team. And second of all, if he was on my team, I would, you know, really distance myself from him because, uh, I don’t think that’s right. And you know I don’t think he should be in the locker room while we’re in the locker room. I wouldn’t even be a part of that.

You knew it was only a matter of time before someone just came right out and said it. A few players came out in support of Amaechi, a few came out with head scratching quotes but Timmy Hardaway is the first to flat out say he hates gays. Later on, Hardaway apologized for his remarks and said, “I regret it. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said I hate gay people or anything like that. That was my mistake.” Notice that he didn’t back away from his stance. He just said he regretted saying it.

Someone isn’t getting a Christmas card from John Amaechi this year.

Thank God for the First Amendment — If not for our right to free speech, we’d never know who the real idiots and a-holes are.  Thank God for the Bill of Rights so we can see just how much of a d-bag Tim Hardaway is.

yup — But as least you know he’s homophobic. If John Amaechi can be gay, then I accept Tim Homophobe for what he is too.

Tim Hardaway — The man has a right to feel how he feels. I don’t like drug dealers and feel uncomfortable around them. Race relations is not the same thing as sexual relations.  I’m not threatened or attracted by someone’s race, but when I’m in the locker room before and after a game, I don’t want to be concerned about some dude who has feelings for another dude on the team. This devastatingly distracting. Tim is right about the psychology of team sports, but could have said it more eloquently. I don’t get why the community thinks everything has to be in their favor. I guess gays don’t believe the Christians have a right and, more importantly, spirituality to support their belief system.

rights — i don’t think anyone is begrudging Tim Hardaway the right to feel or say what he wants. even John Amaechi said that he was glad that Hardaway spoke truthfully, instead of trying to hide behind idiotic blather like “as long as he doesn’t bring his gayness next me…” the problem is the ignorance behind the remarks he made.

why does he “hate gays”? doesn’t Christianity teach acceptance of all? has he ever (knowingly) interacted with a gay person?

people choose to be drug dealers. people don’t choose to be gay.

in general, supporting one’s belief system is fine, but not when it actively discriminates or actively harms another person for no other reason than who he or she is.

Tim Hardaway — I don’t know why people act like sexual preference makes a group of people.  It is nothing at all like being black, jewish, white, or any other race or nationality. All those people have in come is the fact that they share a common belief and liking.  There common belief and liking is no more the truth than anyone elses common belief or liking.

Your sexual preference is what you like sexually.  Nothing less and nothing more.  I don’t think Tim should have ever said he hated anyone, but I think its stupid that people bash someone for saying he doesn’t like people that have a different sexual liking than him.

The media makes it out like the guy said he didn’t like white people or he doesn’t like women.  You are born with your nationality and your sex.  Those are the only two things you can not change. Your sexual liking is just that, your liking.
