The beginning of the NFL free agency period created quite a splash with Edge going to Arizona. However, this week there were plenty of moves. Here are five important ones.
- John Abraham traded to Falcons for first round pick.
Why: Abraham gives the Falcons one of the top defensive ends in the game and gives them a formidable defensive line with Patrick Kearny and Rod Coleman. - Vikings sign Guard Steve Hutchinson
Why: Vikings get one of the best left guards in the game. Will answer the question of whether Shaun Alexander is that good or was it his O-line. - Julian Peterson signs with Seahawks.
Why: Peterson is one of the best LBs in the game. Along with Totupu, the Seahawks will have a stronger linebacking corps than it did last year. - Brian Griese signs with Chicago Bears
Why: Griese will compete for the starting job but at the very least will be insurance for a often injured Rex Grossman. - Adam Vinatieri signs with the Colts.
Why: Vinatieri gives the Colts a clutch kicker, not one that misses 46 yard field goals in crunch time and then makes them on David Letterman.
