ESPN is reporting that the Packers have hired someone nobody outside of San Francisco has heard of. Mike McCarthy, offensive coordinator of a team ranked DEAD LAST in offense and developer of a franchise quarterback who didn’t get a TD until week 17, gets the nod over Wade Phillips, Ron Rivera, Tim Lewis, Jim Bates, Maurice Carthon, and Sean Payton. The reason McCarthy was hired? He has a relationship with Brett Favre, a QB who should’ve retired 2 years ago.
Good work, Ted Thompson.

McCarthy — I’m a 49ers fan. I watched every game this year……….and if you are going to hire somebody off the 49ers staff it should come off the defensive side of the ball. At least there was substantial improvement on that end.
This hiring is a joke. The Green Bay Packers need to cut the cord and start Aaron Rodgers. They are hindering his development and the team’s, the longer he holds a clipboard.
I agree — This hiring is a joke. I am sure McCarthy knows his football and all, but if I were a Packers fan I’d be pissed. The Packers are acting as if they are the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and can only afford second-rate talent. What a joke for one of the league’s most storied franchises.
