Posted on Thu Jun 05, 2008 at 10:07:06 AM EST in NFL Las Vegas is a city of loose morals and low class, but we've always known that. They simply reassured us all of that the other day when the LVPD put on a demonstration showing the deadly dangers of car/pedestrian collisions. Uh, duh! But the sheer stupidity of the story isn't what got us riled up, it was the fact that the crash test dummy was wearing a Ben Roethlisberger jersey! This has Peabody written all over it.
Then to show the dangers of illegal drugs, the Vegas cops set up a table with white powder all over it and had a dummy wearing a Len Bias jersey slumped over in a chair.

The Dolphins had an opportunity to get their first taste of the win column, but that ol' fashioned Miami ineptitude shown though when it mattered to keep their chase for history hitting full stride. The Fins had what we believe was a sober Ricky Williams back and they managed to keep the ill weathered contest knotted up at nothing going into the final minute until Jeff Reed nailed a 24-yarder for the first, last and only score of the game. The only thing uglier than the game was the field, yet somehow, on a rain drenched mess of mud and turf, Ben Roethlisberger was incredibly accurate, going 18-of-21 for 165 yards and keyed the final drive that put Reed into position. For fantasy fanatics, it was a complete waste of time that probably left you screaming at the television on more than one occasion. Unless you were banking on a shutout to get you a victory then it was a completely barren wasteland at Heinz Field. And if you were banking on a Dolphins shutout then you're probably sitting in the cellar of your league anyways. It was the longest scoreless tie since 1943 with Pittsburgh's lead lasting for only the final 17 seconds of the game and it was the first 3-0 final since 1993. Williams was equally pathetic, rushing six times for 15 yards before getting a shoulder injury in his return. These Dolphins appear to be on a crash course with destiny after narrowly avoiding that close call. Now, if we can just get Miami to keep this thing rolling for five more games...c'mon baby!

Posted on Fri Nov 16, 2007 at 11:25:41 AM EST in Other Sports We thought it would be great to get the sports-loving kids in our families some Fatheads for Christmas. What could be better than giving them a ridiculously over-sized Peyton Manning poster? Of course, then we went to their site and realized that those things cost $100 apiece! Screw that! They're getting Lego's and liking it. We don't care how old they are. Build Peyton Manning. The point is that we hate Fathead and all they stand for, especially their stupid commercials.
Wow, we didn't think anything could be more absurd than Big Ben's spot with the rip-off artists.

Apparently Ben Roethlisberger has more than thoughts of receiver routes and proper throwing mechanics running through his head as Steelers training camp opens up. It seems that Big Ben has gotten himself a lady friend and they've recently been seen taking in a Pirates game together. Missy Peregrym was on Heroes and while we don't know jack about the show, we know that we like what we see. Frankly, we're not big fans of Big Ben, but the guy has gone through so much crap over the past year or so that we're kinda happy to see him getting a little pleasure out of life. Anyways, it's kind of refreshing to hear about an NFL player's love life that's not named Tony Romo. What's next? Ben Roethlisberger (aka Meathead) went into emergency surgery on Sunday morning to remove his appendix. The appendix had not burst. Roethlisberger has been declared out for the opener against Miami but will probably be out another week or two recovering from surgery. Obviously Ben is a fast healer as evidenced by his speedy recovery from his motorcycle accident but this certainly throws a wrench into Pittsburgh's title defense. The defense now rests in the hands of Charlie Batch who did go 2-0 last year when Ben was out with injury. If anything should happen to Batch, the newly signed backup is Brian St. Pierre. Yeah, we don't know who he is either.
For years now, the loser of the Super Bowl usually suffers from the "Super Bowl hangover". But as of right now, nothing bad has happened to the Seattle Seahawks while the Steelers have suffered a couple of setbacks already. We have to wonder whether the football gods really intended for Seattle to win the Super Bowl... (Pittsburgh fans say, "get over it already!")

That being said, what a dumbass. Enough people have criticized Ben for not wearing a helmet and jeopardizing his health, his career, and the Steelers so we won't go too far down that road. However, we'd like to point out this 2005 interview with ESPN where Roethlisberger talks about his love of riding.
Also, let us point out that Ben was riding a 2005 Suzuki Hayabusa when he crashed. According to Suzuki, it is the fastest motorcycle in the world. Seems Ben has upgraded his bikes since the interview.
