Josh Hancock's father might try to sue God next

Dean Hancock, the father of Josh Hancock, the St. Louis pitcher who was killed in a traffic accident last month, really needs to blame somebody for the death of his son. He is suing the restaurant that served his son alcohol which certainly has legal precedence.

But here's the kick in the crotch -- he is also suing the man whose Geo Prism stalled and the tow truck driver who stopped to help the Prism. Damn that Prism owner for not being rich enough to afford a reliable car... say like a top of the line SUV. And damn that tow truck driver for actually trying to help someone.

Now, we don't want to desecrate the memory of the dead but Josh Hancock was drunk, speeding, wasn't wearing a seat belt, and was talking on his cell phone at the time of his fatal accident. Is this really anyone's fault but Josh's? Or Perhaps Dean Hancock did such a shitty job of raising his son that he needs to blame people for his own failures?

Everyone felt bad about Josh Hancock's death. And even when the facts of his accident came out, most people just swept it under the rug and paid their respects. But now Dean Hancock is using up whatever ounce of goodwill was left in community by being a complete asshat. Way to honor the memory of your son, pops.

This guy is white trash and we should set up laws that if you file a frivolous lawsuit and it gets thrown out of court then you go to pound me in the butt jail for 6 months.

No wonder your son was so miserable and driving drunk at 3am.

I'm sorry, but this kid (and I use the word kid beacuse he wasn't a man) was a heavy achly, he overslept the start of a game, and got into a wreck just three days prior. Plus, the one serving him drinks OFFERED HIM A CAB RIDE HOME.

Now, let's review...this kid had almost no personal responiblity, the bar actually took diligance in offering him a cab ride home. You can't crontroll when a car stalls, and when a tow truck is needed.

As someone who has put WAY too many friends into the ground beacuse of drunk drivers...I can't feel sorry for him. I just can't beacuse that's a decision YOU make. No one else makes it for you. It's awful that someone died in this, but since he was the driver...I can't feel sorry for him, he made the choice to drink and drive...and now he's paying for it.

It's tragic. I agree. But this Dad is out of line and needs a reality check.

(kinda gross) but it's coming out that this Hancock kid mighta been a little screwy. Or at least ridiculously reckless and irresponsible. Wonder why? And more importantly, where can i buy an asshat?

How can an athlete be expected to regulate his alcohol intake and then know that he shouldn't drive after banging back drink after drink at a bar. Someone needs to be held accountable (other than, you know, the person who did the drinking). Idiots.

Why should a parent be held accountable for beating their child half to death for no reason? Thanks to this lawsuit, if I kill someone with a gun, and I get convicted, I'm suing the gun maker for getting me convicted.

Yes, it's cold but someone has to say this...Hancock got what he deserved. He was dumb enough to drink and drive, and now he pushes up daisys.

The father is disgracing his son even worse by this. Which is just tragic.

I quit drinking just over three years ago this week and was 28 at the time - same age as HANCOCK. I realized that if I didn't stop - I'd end up like this guy.

The person who helped me every step of the way be accountable and quit drinking? My father.

I give God all the glory for it and deliverance, however, I could have been Josh Hancock.

It was my responsibiity and no one elses. You eventually are a man or you're not. Josh Hancock - tragically - never woke up from his latest mistake.

His Dad is making worse and is embarrassing his son after death.

Pathetic and its terrible that our legal system allows this.
