I'm telling you that the "elbow" creates space so that Kobe can score.  If you take enough one game suspensions, then soon your defender's fear of encountering an unintentional elbow and being out several games with injury will make the defender to lay off of the defense of Kobe and will allow Kobe to score.

It is like your fear of being caught by radar will cause you to slow down whether there is any radar or not.

But that's cause Mutombo doesn't look like he's in control of anything. So a foul might get called but he never gets called a dirty player. Meanwhile, opponents want no part of his angular elbows. Kobe (I can't believe I'm saying this cause I've always hated Kobe) is getting a bad rap.
